ETIAS Application

The European Commission announced that the European visa waiver system ETIAS is estimated to be fully active in 2021. Because of the ongoing concern of terrorism and migrant crisis The European Commission is amplifying it’s administration of border control. And that is why ETIAS provides a practical solution for safer travelling for tourists and citizens.

 

Who needs ETIAS?

Right now there are many countries that can enter the Schengen area without a visa. Accurately, there are 60 countries that are visa-free when it comes to visiting Europe. Every citizen that has a valid passport from these visa-free countries is qualified and required to apply for ETIAS including Canada. Starting from 2021, an ETIAS authorization (ETIAS visa) will become a mandatory requirement for every Canadian citizen travelling to Schengen countries. Applying for the ETIAS visa waiver is very easy and fast.

 

How to apply?

The ETIAS visa waiver application form is filled online so the applicant must have a working Internet connection, a valid passport and payment card close by while filling out the form. Considering there isn’t any physical paperwork to be permitted, the application will take only about 20 minutes to complete.

 

In order to apply the European visa the applicant needs:

  • A valid passport (minimum validity of 3 months)
  • A credit or debit card to pay the application fee of the visa
  • An existent email address where the visa will be sent directly if approved

In addition you will also need to give your biographical information:

  • First name
  • Surname
  • Surname at birth
  • Date, place and country of birth
  • Full name of the applicant’s parents
  • Gender
  • Nationality
  • Phone number and email address
  • Current employment and educational details
  • Background information of medical, travel, and criminal history

 

When the application form is completed, you will pay the application fee of 7 € and submit the form. The payment is an electronic payment using your credit or debit card. The application is free of charge for applicants under the age of 12. After you have submitted the application the authorization system will check that you are qualified for the visa, the information you gave was accurate and examines your risk factors. If all the information you provided is correct, you are qualified for the visa and the authorization process passed you through from the security threat analysis, you are approved. After the approval, you will receive the authorization directly by email. The authorization process will only take a few minutes until the procedure is completed.

If your application form is rejected, you will receive an email explaining the reason of rejection. If the system finds any security threats or false information in your application or information details you will not be granted the European visa. In that case, the system will receive an alert from your application and the form will be processed manually. The length of the manual procedure is approximately 96 hours (four days) or maximum two weeks.

The European visa waiver is valid for three consecutive years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first.
